RICHMOND, Va. — One-half of a celebrity-seeking couple that hobnobbed uninvited at a White House state dinner is a member of a board that shapes Virginia's tourism policy.
Tareq Salahi is listed as one of 15 board members of the Virginia Tourism Corp., according to the agency's Web site. He is listed as chairman of Virginia Wine, Travel and Tourism.
Salahi is now embroiled in a bankruptcy court fight with his mother for control over Oasis Winery in Fauquier County.
The Richmond Times-Dispatch reported Saturday that board members to the tourism panel are appointed by the governor.
Other board members include state officials, business leaders and tourism representatives.
