Virginia B. Ginley

Feb. 7, 1917 — Aug. 15, 2007

PENDLETON — Virginia (Blakely) Ginley, 90, Pendleton, passed away Aug. 15, 2007, at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born Feb. 7, 1917, in Van Buren, and lived in Pendleton most of her life. Virginia was a registered nurse for more than 40 years at Riverview and Community Hospitals, retiring in 1982.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Pendleton, and the Women’s Circle, American War Mothers, TOPS, Antique Study Club, Home Economics Club and Pendleton Garden Club.

Survivors include three sons, Richard (Debbie) Ginley of Middletown, Ralph (Mary Joe) Ginley of Anderson, and Mike (Penny) Ginley of Markleville; two daughters, Marcia (Robert) Burk of Anderson and Barbara (Paul) Hughes of Pendleton; six grandchildren, Aaron (Sonya) Hughes, David Hughes, Heather (Dennis) Sheets, Ryan Ginley, Stacy Ginley and Nathan Ginley; five great-grandchildren, Chelsea Sheets, Kyla Sheets, Jessica Hughes, Rebecca Hughes and Holli Hughes; sister, Estella Belle Fuller; two nieces; three nephews; stepson, Gene Ginley; her best friend from grade school, Louise Rumple; dear friend, Florence Raines; sister-in-law, Virginia Blakely; several cousins; and special stepgreat-granddaughter, Tiera Reynolds.

Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Blanche (Wisehart) Blakely; and three brothers, William Richard Blakely, who died in infancy, Walter Lewis Blakely, who was killed in World War II, and Hershel Robert Blakely.

Special thanks to the entire staff at Middletown Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Dr. Mares and his assistant, Brandon Aiman, Dr. Adam Green, Dr. Gelfman and God bless the best doctor anyone could ever have, Dr. James Ong and his loving, caring staff. Dr. Ong never gave up on Virginia and kept her with us years beyond our expectations and kept her quality of life to the best of his ability and gave her dignity.

Services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Lahm Chapel, Pendleton, with Maurice Crull officiating. Burial will be in Mendon Cemetery, south of Pendleton.

Visitation will be 4 to 8 p.m. today at Lahm Chapel and one hour prior to services on Saturday.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, American Lung Association or the American Cancer Society with envelopes available at the funeral home.
