Steve Douglas holds a sample of the compost created from leaves collected in 2008. An alternative to burning leaves is to let the city pick them up for composting. Anderson residents can bag the leaves in paper bags available at local hardware stores. The leaves will be picked up by Best Way Disposal and delivered to the city's Yard and Garden facility where they will be turned into leaf compost. A method that avoids the smoke of burning leaves and returns the nutrients in the leaves to the soil.
