AFT 2010 Final Proposed Settlement Package
Certified and Non-Certified
Certified
1. A $25,000 buy-out for retirees will be given to all retiring certified unit members. A non-revocable letter of retirement must be turned in y Friday, June 25, 2010 at 3:00p.m. Their deposit will be made no later than June 30, 2010. Retiree must be 50 years of age and worked 15 years with ACSC.
2. Certified employees salary scale will be reduced by 2% effective over the 2010/2011 school year. This reduction will be reflected in equal amounts of each of the 26 pays.
3. ACSC cannot hire anyone to teach without a four year degree from an accredited college unless there is a shortage of applicants.
4. Any ACSC initiatives including but not limited to grant applications, research projects, studies and the distribution of expenditures must involve the AFT officers.
5. There must be approval through 85% of the building teachers’ signatures on the PL221/SWP at each building.
6. All work (excluding teaching and obligations of teachers prior to this agreement through their PL 221/SWP) outside of the contractual day will be paid the professional development stipend of $15.75 per hour.
7. All elementary teachers shall be provided with their fifty minute daily preparation time through the employment of art, physical education, library, and music teachers. The goal is that these happen at the same time each day and with their grade level colleagues. The fifth class and the “duty period” (any open period when a teacher doesn’t have a class scheduled) will be determined through collaboration with the AFT and mutual agreement by the AFT and ACSC.

9. A committee will be formed to study, survey, and evaluate all tech vendors with the goal of eliminating and/or minimizing the expenditures.
10. A laid-off employee will have recall rights for five years.
11. We have agreed to a fifteen minute later start and finish time for either the primary and or the intermediate day (not including a shorter day for students). It will not extend the student and teacher day past 3:30. This is agreed to only if it is a cost savings to the district.
Non-Certified
1. Non-Certified employees salary scale will be reduced by 1% effective July 1, 2010. This will be reflected in equal amounts of each paycheck.
