ANDERSON, Ind. —
“A major manufacturing economy is back in Indiana.”
That was the message today when newly-inaugurated Governor Mike Pence spoke in Anderson, at a ribbon cutting ceremony for major Honda plastic components manufacturer Greenville Technology, Inc.’s, new facility.
The ribbon cutting, Pence’s first as governor, also included remarks by GTI president Sho Kurita, general manager Jon Adams, Anderson Mayor Kevin Smith, Honda Manufacturing of Indiana Vice President Bob Nelson, Sen. Joe Donnelly and others.
In July, GTI said it would open the new 150,000-square-foot parts manufacturing facility in the Flagship Enterprise Center business park, and said it expected to bring 325 jobs to Anderson. The company will “never regret” that decision, Pence said.
GTI president Sho Kurita also spoke, saying he hopes “GTI Anderson will become the benchmark for efficiency and customer service.” He also thanked the city and Flagship for their help in facilitating the opening.
“We are very fortunate to partner with the city of Anderson,” he said. “We thank you very much.”
The facility has been actively producing parts for two vehicles — the Honda Civic and the Acura ILX — for a little over two weeks, said general manager Jon Adams.
It currently produces 12 parts for those vehicles such as glove boxes, center consoles and aesthetic parts for car grilles.
Adams said the number of parts would likely be closer to 100 by December, and it could expand to include other vehicles soon. The plant currently employs about 50, but will approach 200 by the end of the year.
“We’re in our infancy,” he said. “But we have a very strategic ramp-up plan.”

Reservoir proposed for Anderson area
Madison County Corporation for Economic Development Director Rob Sparks, in an exclusive interview Thursday with The Herald Bulletin, released details of a proposed project to establish a seven-mile long, 2,000-acre reservoir on White River in Madison and Delaware counties. Company bringing jobs to Anderson
In a formal announcement Tuesday, an industrial filtration products manufacturer said it expects to add over 100 jobs in Anderson. Hy-Pro, which had previously operated out of a two-building complex in Fishers, said it expects to add 107 jobs in Anderson when it moves to a 17-acre plot just north of Nestle USA’s facility next year.
