INDIANAPOLIS — Two top Indiana lawmakers say Democrats and Republicans are close to compromises that could end the legislative session.
Democratic House Speaker Patrick Bauer and Republican Senate Appropriations Chairman Luke Kenley said there's been a lot of progress in private negotiations, and they were close to agreements on some weighty issues. Both said it was possible that matters could be settled soon and the Legislature could adjourn Thursday.
They said there were still a few things that needed to be resolved, but they were optimistic that would happen.
Lawmakers face a Sunday deadline for adjournment.
