INDIANAPOLIS — Dozens of snowplows are set to hit Indiana highways as the state prepares for its second major winter storm in less than a week.
The state Department of Transportation says it's calling out 65 highway trucks to treat and plow roads in the Indianapolis area early Tuesday morning through Wednesday.
The storm is expected to dump as much as a foot of snow in some areas, and the National Weather Service says winds of up to 35 mph will cause significant drifting.
Forecasters say central Indiana can look for 5 to 9 inches of fresh snow on top of the 6 to 10 inches left behind by last week's storm. Northern Indiana only got a few inches last week, but the area north of South Bend could receive as much as a foot or more this time around.
