A Marion man was airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis late Friday night after the van he was driving struck a tree in northern Madison County.
According to Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, Chad T. Bowman, 35, of Marion, was traveling south on Indiana 37 in a 2000 Chevrolet Venture Van at County Road 1700 North. The van crossed the center line, left the road and traveled approximately 375 feet before striking a tree.
According to Sheriff Richardson, Bowman was trapped in the van for some time before rescue workers could remove him from the wreckage.
Bowman was transported by ambulance to Mercy-St. Vincent Hospital in Elwood and was airlifted from there to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Bowan is believed to have suffered head and internal injuries. Assisting at the scene were Alexandria medics, Summitville Fire and Ambulance, Duck Creek Fire Department and members of the Madison County Emergency Management Agency.
