ALEXANDRIA, Ind. —
A head-on collision between two automobiles north of Alexandria killed three people Friday night.
According to Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, authorities were notified about 10:40 p.m. of the crash on Indiana 9 just north of County Road 1450 North.
Richardson said a Chevrolet Cavalier driven by Timothy Thompson, 50, of Jonesboro was northbound on Ind. 9 when it crossed the center line, striking a Chrysler Sebring driven by Kimberly Gregory, 54, of Kokomo.
The Cavalier came to a stop on the east side of the road. The Sebring came to a rest on the west side of Ind. 9 off the road.
Both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene by the Madison County coroner. Passengers from the Sebring were transported by ambulance to Community Hospital.
The rear passenger, Linda Elliot, 56, of Kokomo, was pronounced dead at the hospital. The front passenger, Bertha Gregory, 76, of Kokomo, suffered a concussion and multiple rib fractures.
The sheriff’s department is investigating the collision, which resulted in the closure of Ind. 9 from 10:41 p.m. until 2:03 a.m.
Agencies assisting at the scene included the sheriff’s department; Alexandria police, EMS and medic; Summitville police, EMS and fire; the Madison County coroner’s office; and Madison County Emergency Management.
