NEW ALBANY, Ind. — A county coroner in Indiana says details about the deaths of a woman and two children who were found in a shallow creek will be released Friday.
Floyd County Coroner Leslie Knable performed the autopsies on Thursday.
New Albany Police Maj. Keith Whitlow has said investigators are treating the deaths as homicides despite the lack of any obvious signs of foul play. He told the News and Tribune of Jeffersonville that one child was about 2 years old and the other was an adolescent.
A person walking through Binford Park spotted the bodies in Falling Run Creek on Wednesday evening, Whitlow said. The creek is 12 to 18 inches deep. Whitlow did not have an estimate of how long the bodies had been in the creek.
WHAS-TV reported no vehicles were found near the bodies.
The victims' names were not immediately released. It's been nine years since a body was found in Binford Park, located in the center of New Albany.
"We haven't had many ones like this, especially with children," Whitlow told the News and Tribune.
Whitlow did not immediately respond to messages Thursday from The Associated Press.
New Albany is less than a mile north of Louisville, Ky.
