ANDERSON, Ind. —
An overnight dusting of snow forced police to close the Eisenhower Bridge on east Eighth Street Wednesday morning because of icing, but the bridge is now open.
Police spokesman Joel Sandefur said officers helped motorist navigate their way off the slick span, and then closed it while city street crews applied salt to the roadway. He was not certain when it would reopen. Motorist had to find alternative routes around the closure.
The only other weather related incident in the city was a minor accident on Main Street over I-69.
Indiana State Police reported a minor accident involving a tractor trailer and a car at I-70 at Indiana 9 near Greenfield.
All other highways and major roads in Madison County were clear, said Sgt. Brian Metcalfe.
Light snow began falling over Central Indiana about midnight and continued through morning according to the National Weather Service. Accumulations were expected to be about a half-inch.
With temperatures near to just above freezing, the weather service advised motorists to be aware of slick spots on roadways. A high temperature of 35 degrees is expected today.
