ANDERSON – City police and animal control are searching for a dog that bit a 13-year-old girl Wednesday night.
Anderson Sgt. Bill Casey said the dog is “a small shepherd mix” that had been frequenting the area around the 2500 block of Halford Street.
“All this girl was doing was riding her bike and this dog ran up and bit her on the leg,” he said.
Police were called to Saint John’s Medical Center, where the girl’s parents took her to be treated for three small teeth marks, at about 8 p.m. Wednesday, Casey said.
According to Casey, police do not believe the dog is rabid.
