SIOUX FALLS, S.D. —
The nation's largest ethanol producer is celebrating the grand opening of its 27th plant.
Sioux Falls-based Poet bought the 90 million-gallon-per-year plant in Cloverdale, Ind., in June. It was opened and operated under Altra Biofuels for a short time in 2008. Locally, Poet owns and operates a plant in Alexandria.
Poet held a ceremony Tuesday attended by Chief Executive Officer Jeff Broin, Indiana Lt. Gov. Becky Skillman and Growth Energy Chief Executive Officer Tom Buis.
With the purchase, Poet now produces more than 1.7 billion gallons of ethanol a year.
