Man critical after house fire

Victim not transported by helicopter, as earlier reported

ANDERSON -- An Anderson man rescued from a burning home this morning was in critical but stable condition Tuesday evening at Saint John's Medical Center.

Larry Neff, 59, of 240 S. Scatterfield Road, was pulled from the home after fire crews arrived on the scene of the fire at the corner of Scatterfield Road and University Boulevard. Assistant fire chief Dave Cravens said Neff was given emergency aid at the scene before he was transported by ambulance to Saint John's.

The fire, reported at 9:55 this morning and cleared at 10:40 a.m., temporarily blocked Scatterfield Road north of University Boulevard. The road is now reopened.
