Gunshots fired outside the Chug in Muncie

One bullet went throught the front door, struck a beam

MUNCIE, Ind. — Gunshots were fired into a bar near the Ball State University campus over the weekend as police said about 20 people were inside.

The manager of the Chug told police that two people were told they were too drunk to enter but returned about 2:30 a.m. Saturday, with one shooting a gun. One shot went through the front door and struck a steel beam where customers were standing.

Bouncer Tyler Jenkins told The Star Press of Muncie he was hit by shattered glass but didn't need treatment. No other injuries were reported.

Jenkins says he was checking an ID when the shooting started in a business district near the southern end of the Ball State campus.

No arrests were immediately made.
