LAWRENCE — A prominent Indianapolis car salesman was found dead Tuesday, the result of an apparent suicide.
Richard Burd, 43, co-owner of Burd Ford, died from suicide by asphyxiation, Lawrence police detective Gary Woodruff told the Indianapolis Star.
Burd's body was discovered around 2:40 a.m. Tuesday in his dealership office on Pendleton Pike in Lawrence. Papers left in the office suggest Burd was "concerned with potential financial hardship," according to Woodruff.
Burd's wife, Christine, reported seeing Burd at the dealership around 10 p.m. Monday, but had not returned home by 2 a.m.
Burd graduated from Noblesville high School and attended Ball State University. He is survived by his wife and four children.
