ANDERSON — A four-car accident that closed Indiana 9 Thursday morning involved a parked UPS truck with the delivery man digging in the back for a package, said Senior Indiana State Trooper Tony Klettheimer.
The accident occurred on Indiana 9 between Hartman Road and County Road 375 North at about 9:35 a.m. Klettheimer said a car heading north on Indiana 9 braked to make a left turn. That car was rear-ended by another northbound car, and it was pushed into the southbound lanes. Marilyn Vandergrift, 74, was driving southbound at the time and hit the car that had crossed into her lane. She also hit a parked UPS truck whose driver was in the back pulling out a package for delivery, Klettheimer said.
Vandergrift, of Alexandria, was transported to Saint John’s Medical Center but was expected to have only minor injuries, Klettheimer said.
The rest of the people involved in the accident declined hospital treatment, although some claimed to have minor pains.
