ANDERSON — A fire that critically burned an Anderson man more than 10 days ago remains under investigation, an Anderson Fire Department investigator said Friday.
“Basically, the fire is still undetermined as far as cause,” Capt. Brad Corbin said of the Nov. 3 fire at 240 Scatterfield Road.
The occupant of the house, Larry Neff, 59, was hospitalized at St. John’s Medical Center in critical condition after the fire. St. John’s spokesman Randy Titus said on Friday that Neff remained hospitalized in serious but stable condition.
“We have not been able to talk to him at all,” Corbin said.
He said the fire department is working with the homeowner’s insurance company to try to determine the cause of the fire. He said it remains undertermined where in the house the fire might have started.
Corbin said the house sustained a considerable amount of smoke and heat damage.
