ANDERSON, Ind. — The trial for a former Anderson Police Department officer accused of attacking his girlfriend’s father has been rescheduled.
Lincoln Brooks, 44, will face felony charges of residential entry and strangulation and misdemeanor charges of battery, disorderly conduct and criminal mischief at his trial Dec. 14 in Madison Circuit Court.
The trial was originally set to begin Tuesday, but Madison County Prosecutor Thomas Broderick said another trial was tried in that court Tuesday. Court procedures set trial dates and rank each date’s trials.
Police reports say Brooks slapped his girlfriend, Brandy Neff, on May 23 at her home in the 200 block of Scatterfield Road. The reports say he also kneed her in the chest. He then choked Larry Neff, the reports say.
Brooks resigned from the Anderson Police Department after a period of paid administrative leave. APD Assistant Chief Keith Copeland has said the department had already begun termination proceedings against Brooks.
