Gov. Daniels, wife to spend Thanksgiving in NYC

Investment banker daughter can't get away

INDIANAPOLIS — Gov. Mitch Daniels says first lady Cheri Daniels loves to cook turkey with all the trimmings for Thanksgiving, but she won't get a chance to this year.

Daniels says he and his wife are heading to New York City to spend Thanksgiving with their youngest daughter, Maggie. She's an investment banker who can't get away for the holiday.

Besides, their three other daughters, all married, will be spending Thanksgiving with in-laws, so the governor and his wife would have a near-empty home anyway.

Daniels told reporters Tuesday that it's "the strangest Thanksgiving" in his family's history.

He says he's looking forward to having all of his daughters around on Christmas.
