Stock trading room to be built at AU
ANDERSON — Anderson University and Star Financial Bank are partners in building a simulated financial trading room in the Falls School of Business.
Construction of the new facility will begin this fall and is being funded by a $125,000 commitment from Star Financial Bank, according to a release from AU.
The trading room will serve as a real-time, high-tech laboratory classroom designed to simulate a Wall Street environment on AU’s campus.
The 1,000-square-foot lab will be equipped with 20 trading stations; a computer and dual displays at each station; two large-screen displays providing live coverage of CNBC, CNN, and other financial networks; two electronic ticker tapes that surround the classroom with financial information; video-conferencing equipment; software for trading, deal capturing, settlement, analytics, pricing, portfolio management, derivatives pricing and other finance-related challenges market information subscriptions.
AU officials said the trading room will benefit all students with coursework in finance, but the greatest benefit will be to upper-division finance students, particularly those working with the university’s Raven Investment Fund, a student-managed portfolio of more than $310,000 that over the last three years has outperformed the market in return and risk.
Med One to close temporarily
ANDERSON — A move for Med One Urgent Care and Occupational Medicine Center to the east side of Scatterfield Road to an expanded facility will require that Med One close Friday through Sunday.
The office will reopen at the new location — 4778 Scatterfield Road — on Aug. 30.
The expanded facility will have more examination rooms and the location has plenty of convenient parking, according to Saint John’s Medical Center officials.
“Our new facilities will help us continue to meet the needs of urgent care and occupational medicine patients,” said Medical Director Dr. Kevin Smith.
Urgent care services are provided without an appointment Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Med One has collaborated with the physician practices of St. Vincent Physician Network. Dr. James Ong, Dr. Debra Harp and Dr. Stephen Kirkman will be moving their practices to the new facility in September.
A public open house is planned for Sept. 19 from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m.
