YORKTOWN — Brian and Vickie Hildebrand, owners of Millbrook Tree Farm in Yorktown, delivered a 7-foot concolor, or white fir, tree Monday for display at the Statehouse office of Superintendent of Public Instruction Suellen Reed.
The tree is a key element of Reed’s Reading Tree, an annual event that features handmade ornaments created by students from across Indiana.
The Hildebrands, both teachers at Highland High School in Anderson, were selected by the Indiana Christmas Tree Growers’ Association because of their connection to education.
Brian is a technology education teacher with 36 years of teaching experience. Vickie teaches health education and has 34 years of teaching experience.
It was the second year in a row for the Hildebrands to deliver a tree from their farm, which has been in operation for five years.
“Of all the tree farms in Indiana, and there are several, we have been viewed as one of the nicest farms,” said Vickie Hildebrand.
The farm, located at 12615 W. 400S in Delaware County, has hundreds of trees for sale and is open daily, they said.
