ANDERSON — Bright Automotive announced Thursday it has hired Evan House as vice president for battery development.
“Evan brings an exceptional combination of knowledge, passion and experience to Bright Automotive,” said Bright CEO John Waters. “As with all of our executives, he not only has a desire to bring dramatic change to the auto industry, but he has the experience to know how to get the job done.”
Anderson-based Bright has developed a 100-miles-per-gallon hybrid-electric vehicle for mass production. The vehicle, known as the Idea, targets the commercial fleet and government fleet market.
According to Bright, House served as director of battery development at Seeo, leading the creation of the Altairnano battery unit, and headed the product development group at EnerDel.
Bright makes its home at the Flagship Enterprise Center, but the company awaits word on its application for an Advanced Technology Vehicle Manufacturing Loan Program from the Department of Energy before establishing a permanent manufacturing base. Company officials attended the EVS24 electric vehicle conference in Norway May 13-16.
