MUNCIE — The Indiana Foodways Alliance will hold the second Real Food, Real Indiana Expo from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 21, at Minnetrista’s museum facility in Muncie.
Culinary businesses that produce Indiana-made products will offer samples of their artisan products to the public and sell their wares at this indoor event, just in time for the holiday season. Featured foods include locally made breads, pies, cheeses, meats, wines, preserves, baked goods, sauces and candies.
More than 30 food-related small businesses from across the state will be featured at the Expo, and will include some of Minnetrista’s popular farmers’ market vendors as well as juried Indiana food artisans who make products as varied as handmade marshmallows and chocolates to salsas, coffees and barbeque.
Minnetrista is partnering with the Indiana Foodways Alliance for the event, and will open their exhibits to attendees for the day. Last year’s Expo attracted a crowd of about 1,200 foodies, many sampling and purchasing unique food products for holiday giving. This year’s Expo expands the space and number of vendors. Admission is $5 for adults, and free to children accompanied by adults. Parking adjacent to Minnetrista, located at 1200 Minnetrista Parkway, off Wheeling Avenue in Muncie, is free. Proceeds from the Expo benefit the educational and economic development programs of the Indiana Foodways Alliance.
Indiana Foodways Alliance is a statewide nonprofit educational organization dedicated to the identification, promotion and preservation of the authentic food culture of Indiana. IFA works with towns and visitor’s bureaus to identify exceptional locally-owned and operated restaurants and culinary businesses throughout Indiana and to promote them via culinary trails available to the public through IndianaFoodways.com.
