Name of business: Affiliated Computer Services Inc. (ACS)
Opened: ACS’s Anderson site was announced in September 2007, hired its first workers in January 2008 and answered its first call on March 10, 2008. The company is celebrating its 2-year-old Anderson site.
Site general manager: Shannon Long
Location: 2828 Enterprise Drive; 778-6209; acs-inc.com
Hours: Employees work in different shifts from 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, including holidays
Employees: About 700, mostly customer care agents with some managers, operations supervisors and information technology workers. ACS’s Anderson site has some job openings, which can be found at acs-inc.com. Prospective employees can apply online or in person at the site. “This site was originally scheduled to have about 500 employees,” said ACS spokesman Chris Gilligan. “The client liked it, we were successful, we exceeded our expectations and our goal as far as number of employees.”
Services: ACS’s Anderson site takes in-bound calls on behalf of its client’s customers. Employees take calls from customers on issues relating to the client, which provides tools and resources to help callers. Gilligan could not release who the Anderson site’s client is or in what industry it operates. Employees at the Anderson site answer about 400,000 calls a month.
ACS has 150 customer care centers around the world and employs 76,000 people. It is a technology consulting and outsourcing firm that services the health care, communications and wireless communications sectors, among others.
In an employee’s words: Gilligan said Anderson was a successful site for ACS, noting it was one of the highest-ranked performing sites for the client it serves. “Its only rated high because the employees are excelling,” he said. “We like the area because of the employees, and the employees are responding by doing an outstanding job for our client. ACS has the expertise and the technology and the tools and the techniques, but the employees have the talent to make it successful.”
