Airport will unveil taxiway project

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Anderson Municipal Airport will have an information meeting from 8 to 9:30 am on Friday, Dec. 4, to show residents about the activity taking place at the airport, to talk with aviation experts and airport tenants, and to witness the ribbon cutting and “first taxi” on the newly relocated Taxiway A.

One of those in attendance will be selected to participate in the first taxi with Mayor Kris Ockomon as a guest in the aircraft of Barry Sharp, local business owner of S&S; Steel Services and aviation supporter.

Participants in the event will include: The Anderson Preparatory Academy, Indiana Department of Transportation’s Office of Aviation, Federal Aviation Administration, the Aviation Association of Indiana and local business users of the airport.

The Taxiway Relocation project took three years to complete and cost approximately $8.9 million. Of this total, $5.9 million was spent with Madison County businesses.
