Settlements related to the December 1999 White River fish kill generated approximately $6.32 million in natural resource damage (NDR) funds for river restoration. Here is a breakdown of how those funds were dispersed by three trustees, based on recommendations by a citizens advisory panel:
$1.1 million ‘Fee simple’ land acquisitions (283 acres)
$525,000 Acquisition of conservation easements (265 acres)
$2.4 million Habitat restoration (650 acres)
$740,000 New and upgraded public access sites
$300,000 Research studies and GIS projects
$310,000 Fish restocking and monitoring

$140,000 River safety projects
