Name of business: Timberline Valley RV Resort
Location: 3230 E. 75 North, Anderson; 378-5909; timberlinecampground.com
Owners: Steve and Terri Foster took over ownership of the campground, which used to be called Timberline Family Campground, in January. The Fosters have traveled from Texas to Florida north to Wisconsin and South Dakota, working in campgrounds and for the camping industry through Affinity Group, which hosts entities such as Camping World, Woodall’s, Trailer Life and Good Sam RV Club.
Opened: The Fosters became owners of the campground in January. Although the campground is open year-round for RVs, tent camping and all the facility’s accommodations will be open April 1.
Services: Timberline Valley RV Resort has 95 RV/trailer sites and 25 tent sites. It has three ponds for swimming and catch-and-release fishing and more than a mile of White River frontage. The resort has a 13.5 acre island with trails, a playground, hay rides for children and two cabins.
Each month, the campground will have a drawing for a free weekend stay, and those who make reservations will receive one entry.
Future plans: In the next few years, the Fosters plan to make changes to the campground, including adding 32 “super sites” that are 120 feet long and 50 feet wide and include electric, water and sewer accommodations with a cement patio and grill. They also plan to add water toys for children and build two new cabins to sleep six.
In the owners’ words: The Fosters would like to take all the good things they have found in about 60 of the country’s campgrounds and implement them in the next five to seven years. Steve Foster said he and his wife had “listened to what RVers and campers have said and think (we) have grasped the right concept. Timberline Valley is the best-kept secret in Indiana.”
Many possibilities exist for the future of the campground, Steve Foster said.
“All you have to have is an imagination and go after it,” he said. “With summer just around the corner, it is still the most affordable vacation and travel experience that a family can share.”
