Remy president steps down, company names new head

PENDLETON, Ind. — The president of Pendleton-based auto parts manufacturer and distributor Remy International, Inc., has stepped down.

John H. Weber, the company’s CEO for seven years, said today he’s stepping down, but will remain on the board of directors. Weber will be replaced by Remy Senior Vice President and Chief Commercial Officer John J. Pittas.

Weber said he decided to step down because “it is the right time for me personally to step back from day-to-day management responsibilities at Remy,” he said in a release.

Remy board chairman of William P. Foley, II said Weber “guided the company through some initially difficult times to its current position of financial strength and market leadership,” including stabilizing the business after bankruptcy and strengthening the company’s appeal in the global market.

Pittas, Weber’s replacement, has worked at Remy for seven years, and has experience in manufacturing, customer service, sales, technical support and process engineering, including international market development, the release said.

Though based in Pendleton, Remy has global operations in 10 countries on five continents. Remy International’s products are marketed under the names Delco Remy and Remy.
