SBA Indiana rural loans up 210 percent

Examples of rural businesses receiving SBA loans include caterers, new car dealers, skiing facilities, machine shops and hotels and motels. Loan size for rural businesses ranged from $7,500 for working capital to $2.71 million for building construction and major equipment.

In February, the SBA Indiana District Office and 54 of its lending partners made guaranty loans in excess of $40 million to Indiana small businesses, an increase of 99 percent compared to February 2009.

Local Realtor earns distressed property designation

ANDERSON — Local Realtor Bill Carter of Re/max Real Estate Groups has earned the Certified Distressed Property Expert designation, having completed training in foreclosure avoidance and short sales.

Short sales allow the cash-strapped seller to repay the mortgage at the price that the home sells for, even though it is lower than what is owed on the property, and more lenders are willing to consider short sells because they are less costly than foreclosures, according to a Re/max press release.
