Holloway scores 26 as Ole Miss beats Indiana 89-71
SAN JUAN, Puerto Rico — Murphy Holloway had 26 points and nine rebounds, leading Mississippi to a 89-71 victory over Indiana on Thursday in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Puerto Rico Tip-Off.
Chris Warren scored 16 points and Eniel Polynice had 10 and seven assists for the Rebels, who shot 50 percent (35 for 70). Ole Miss (3-0) blocked 12 shots to Indiana's two.
Maurice Creek scored 18 points, Verdell Jones had 17 and Jeremiah Rivers scored 14 but committed six of Indiana's 21 turnovers. The Hoosiers (2-1) had 13 assists.
Indiana went ahead 20-11 with 14:14 to go in the first half. Ole Miss responded with a 14-0 run — Trevor Gaskins scored six of the points — to go up 25-20 about 5 minutes later. The Rebels, who held a 43-32 rebounding edge, never relinquished the lead.
Harangody's 29 paces ND to 82-62 victory
SOUTH BEND — Luke Harangody had 29 points and 12 rebounds and Notre Dame took control with a 13-2 run to open the second half, beating Long Beach State 82-62 Thursday night.
Tory Jackson added 13 points and Ben Hansbrough and Tim Abromaitis added 11 points each for the Irish (3-0), who outscored Long Beach State 50-36 inside. Notre Dame outshot the 49ers (2-1) 64 percent to 38 percent in the second half.
Larry Anderson led Long Beach State with 20 points. T.J. Robinson added 16 and Eugene Phelps had 18 rebounds.
Hansbrough started the 13-2 run with a layup, had a pass inside for a dunk by Tyrone Nash for one of his seven assists, then capped the spurt with a 3-pointer to extend the Notre Dame lead to 50-37. The 49ers cut the lead to eight points three times, the final time when T.J. Robinson scored on a dunk with 5:33 left.
The Irish put the game away when Harangody answered with a 3-point play, sparking a 7-0 spurt that gave Notre Dame a 71-56 lead on a fastbreak basked by Jonathan Peoples off a steal and assist by Jackson.
The Irish continued to pull away in the closing minutes, opening a 20-point lead on a 3-pointer by Abromaitis.
People finished with 10 points and Hansbrough added seven assists. Greg Plater had 11 points for the 49ers.
The teams traded leads 12 times in the first half, with the Irish leading 37-35 at halftime.

Barlow leads No. 5 Notre Dame past MSU, 68-67
EAST LANSING, Mich. — Ashley Barlow scored 18 points and hit a tiebreaking free throw with 10 seconds left, lifting No. 5 Notre Dame to a 68-67 victory over No. 21 Michigan State on Thursday night.
The Spartans had a chance to win after Barlow's late foul shot for the Fighting Irish (2-0), but Aisha Jefferson missed a jumper from the lane with 4 seconds to go.
Allyssa DeHaan led Michigan State (1-2) with 20 points.
Michigan State trailed 45-35 when DeHaan, a 6-foot-9 senior, limped off the court with an apparent ankle injury early in the second half. The Spartans, sparked by their defense and forcing turnovers, went on a 15-2 tear immediately afterward to grab a 50-47 lead with 11:52 remaining.
DeHaan returned and increased Michigan State's lead to 56-51 with a basket with about 10 minutes to go. But the Irish regained the lead with an 8-0 run capped by Erica Williamson's layup with 8:41 left.
Michigan State tied the score at 67 on a free throw by Porsche Poole with 55 seconds left.
A foul by Michigan State put Notre Dame in the double bonus. Barlow missed her first free throw with 10 seconds left, but sank her second opportunity to put the Irish in front.
Lindsay Schrader had 12 points and 14 rebounds for Notre Dame.
Lykendra Johnson had 14 points and 12 rebounds for Michigan State.
Michigan State started the season ranked 10th in The Associated Press poll. The Spartans fell after losing their season opener at Dayton.
Michigan State bounced back to win at Detroit on Sunday. But on Tuesday, the Spartans lost sophomore forward Courtney Schiffauer for the season with a right knee injury sustained in practice.
Schiffauer started one of the first two games this season for the Spartans, leading the team in points (16.5 per game) and rebounds (7.5 per game).
Notre Dame opened its season Sunday with a 102-57 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff.
