Ravens Roundup: AU baseball picks up first two wins of season

BASEBALL

AU sweeps doubleheader

The Anderson University baseball team scored its first two victories of the season Sunday in Leesburg, Fla., sweeping a doubleheader against Albright College by scores of 4-1 and 15-3.

Aaron Vogel started the first game allowing just one run in six innings on the mound. The senior righthander allowed just three hits in his first victory of the season. Seth Daniels pitched a scoreless seventh inning to record his first save of the season.

Nate Clem led the offense going 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored. He finished the day with four hits in five at bats.

Brad Schnepp earned the victory in the second game allowing three runs in five innings.

The Ravens collected 19 hits in the second game scoring a season-high 15 runs. Jeremy Hazen, Cody Young and Brett Detty each

had three hits.

Anderson (2-3) takes on Husson University in Winter Haven, Fla., today at 1:30 pm.



Softball

AU splits with Staten Island

The Anderson University softball team defeated Staten Island 4-0, but lost the nightcap 2-1 on Sunday afternoon at the Fortune Road Softball Complex in Kissimmee, Fla.

In the first game, Monica Crowe threw a complete game shutout, allowing just one hit while striking out nine and walking one.

Johnna Rebenack led the offense with three hits, and Natalie Moorhouse added two doubles and two RBIs.

Stephanie Atkins, Megan Ream and Amy Wuestefeld each had a double as the Ravens outhit the Dolphins 11-1 in the contest.

In the second game, Devin Moorman took the loss on the mound, despite allowing just two hits and no earned runs while striking out one without a walk.

Kean scored both runs in the bottom of the sixth inning, getting two hits with the help of two Ravens errors.

Rebenack led the offense with a hit and an RBI. Moorhouse added a hit and a run scored, and Katy Ogden had the other Ravens hit in the game.

AU (2-2) plays Ramapo (3 p.m.) and St. Norbert at the Osceola County Softball Complex on Tuesday in Kissimmee, Fla.
