NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. —
The Anderson University men’s basketball team lost to Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference rival Manchester College 81-71 on Wednesday night at Stauffer-Wolfe Arena in North Manchester.
Despite the loss, the Ravens clinched a spot in the six-team HCAC postseason tournament on Feb. 24 at Transylvania University.
Brock Morrison led the Ravens with 22 points, 10 rebounds and three assists, hitting 8 of 19 field goals, including four 3-pointers.
Andrew Bowman was also in double figures with 14 points, six rebounds and six assists, hitting 4 of 12 field goals. Bowman needs 37 points to reach the 1,000-mark for his college career.
Phil Hogan was also in double figures with 17 points, seven rebounds and two assists, making 7 of 17 field goals, including three 3-pointers. Andrew Larrick chipped in with six points and seven rebounds off the bench.
AU had a 39-37 advantage on the boards, including 17-13 on the offensive glass, but Manchester had the edge in second-chance points (20-12), points off turnovers (24-15) and bench scoring (22-8). The Ravens had the lead in assists (16-12) and steals (12-7).
AU (13-11, 9-8 HCAC) finishes the regular season at Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Women’s Basketball
Manchester 52, Anderson 37
ANDERSON — The Ravens were led by Hannah Wickard with 10 points and eight rebounds, hitting 5 of 14 field goals.
Jenna Wittenberg had eight points, three rebounds and three assists, and Nyomi Defiel added five points and nine rebounds off the bench. Ashley Wuestefeld had six points and two rebounds, and Danielle Eng chipped in with five rebounds.
AU shot 33 percent from the field and 9 of 19 from the free throw line while Manchester was at 43 percent shooting, including 4-of-18 from the charity stripe.
The Ravens had a 36-34 advantage on the boards, but the Spartans had the edge in points in the paint (24-16), assists (18-8), turnovers (15-26), points off turnovers (19-6), second-chance points (7-0) and steals (14-8).
AU (8-16, 5-12 HCAC) finishes the season at Mt. St. Joseph on Saturday at 1 p.m.
