Colts fans decorate blue
Man expects to wear team gear at job
ANDERSON, Ind. – Imagine being a self-proclaimed “biggest Colts fan.” Then, imagine cleaning your living room and accidentally scooping your first Colts game ticket into the trash. What would you do?
Andersonian Cody Chandler, 25, didn’t give it a second thought.
“I went into the Dumpster in my apartments and I got it out,” he said proudly of his 15-minute dive.
That prized game ticket from Aug. 20, 2009 now hangs in a frame on his wall.
Chandler is one of the area Colts fans who have feverishly decorated their homes in blue and white and every horseshoe-emblazoned trinket available.
“I have Colts stuff in just about every room,” he said. “I got stuff scattered all over the place.”
He said Saturday he owns playing cards, throw pillows, towels, and an assortment of pennants, hats and T-shirts.
“I’m the biggest Colts fan you will ever meet,” he said.
Anita Woodsides, 85, would try to give him a run for his money.
“I enjoy all of the players,” she said.
Woodsides has decorated her room at Keystone Woods Assisted Living in as much blue and white as she could. Colts can be seen on her bed, in her kitchen, and even on her door.
“It’s been decorated a while,” she said.
The door features a Colts helmet magnet, blue and white balloons, a Colts sock and an emblem from the first Super Bowl.
Woodsides said she’s been a Colts fan since the team came to Indianapolis.
“I didn’t know much about them until they came,” she said. “I think Peyton Manning is a great man.”
Chandler said he’s been a Colts fan since Jim Harbaugh quarterbacked for the team.
His very first Colts gear came at Christmas a few years ago in the form of a throw pillow. Since, he said, he’s probably spent over $2,000 on Colts stuff.
To show his Colts spirit today, Chandler said, he will watch the game at a friend’s house until he has to go to work at PetsMart.
“I’m wearing everything Colts,” he said. “I don’t care what my boss thinks. I’ll wear my uniform underneath, of course.”

Manning lets New Orleans party on
It’s a good thing Peyton Manning lives in Indianapolis. Here, at least, he doesn’t have to see his hometown reveling at his expense.
Down in New Orleans, Saints’ paraphernalia decorates everything from corner stores to po-boy shops. Sponsors are packaging products in the team’s trademark fleur-de-lis emblem and Tracy Porter’s Super Bowl-sealing interception return has been replayed countless times on local and national television.
Manning has tried to stay out of it. -
Moore survives Colts' cuts
The local kid might have Indy’s return job while the former Hoosier is gone.
On Saturday, the Colts trimmed their roster to 53 by waiving seventh-round draft pick Ray Fisher, the Indiana alum, undrafted free agent Brandon James and receiver Sam Giguere — making Devin Moore, the clear winner, in the competition for the return job. -
Colts fall to Bengals in preseason finale
In a game that didn’t mean a whole lot, except for those first-year players and veteran backups trying to win a job, Thursday night’s preseason matchup between the Indianapolis Colts and Cincinnati Bengals proved to be pretty entertaining.
With the Colts playing second-line players all evening, and Cincinnati working its own reserves into the game, the Bengals held on for a 30-28 win in front of an announced crowd of 62,226 fans at Lucas Oil Stadium. -

Polian displeased with snap penalties
The National Football League soap opera of “Please Spot the Football Quickly” continues to churn on.
Just days after saying that problems with game officials and the slow spotting of the ball after an offensive play were “a work in progress” and “mechanical” problems that could be worked out, Indianapolis Colts team president Bill Polian took a different tack in a conversation with Sports Illustrated’s Peter King. -
Colts looking on bright side of 59-24 loss
Rather than dwelling on the negative aspects of Thursday night’s 59-24 preseason loss to the Green Bay Packers, and there were many, Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell preferred to talk about the good things that transpired at Lambeau Field.

Colts keep things in perspective
When it comes to preseason games, the Indianapolis Colts have been pretty consistent in recent years.
And we’re not talking about the 9-22 record since 2004, either. -
