Mildred was owner-released to the Anderson City Shelter at the end of February of ’08 with her big orange feline companion.
They had been together since they were kittens. Mildred’s orange buddy got adopted immediately but Mildred was left behind. She became depressed and was not adapting to shelter life alone. She stopped eating and moving and hid under the newspaper. The fear was if she did not start eating soon she would develop fatty liver disease which could result in death.
Dr. Claudia called and asked if I could take her. Mildred ended up in M’s Cat Room. I wrote a column about her transformation from timid Millie to Queen Mildred of the Cat Room.
Mildred was adopted to a 90-year-old cat lover. For Millie and Virginia, it was love at first sight. Mildred became Daisy and lived happily until last week. Virginia passed away leaving Daisy alone and unwanted once again. When I adopted Mildred to Virginia it was agreed that when she passed her family would give Millie a loving home. Virginia worried about Daisy right up until the end.
No one in Virginia’s family can take Daisy, though they all love her and talk about what a wonderful girl she is. Daisy is coming back to me. This is the second time that Daisy has been left by her human and I worry that she will not adjust unless I can get her into a home situation immediately.
So please help Daisy — give her a forever home. She prefers to be the only cat but will tolerate others as long as she gets lots of love and attention. Daisy loves kids. She doesn’t mind dogs as long as they don’t overly poke at her with their noses or step on her. She is a big black and white girl with lots of love to give once she gets to know you; but you gotta promise not to leave her — three times will most certainly push her over the edge.
