Theft from ATM leads to man’s arrest

ANDERSON — Anderson police arrested a man Wednesday who charged $1,500 to his ex-girlfriend’s ATM card over the holiday season, according to a police report.

The report said Michael Cook, 26, admitted to detectives that he took his ex-girlfriend’s ATM card out of her console in her car just before Christmas Day. From Christmas Eve through Dec. 29, Cook racked up almost $1,500 in 15 transactions, the report said.

Cook is being held at the Madison County Jail on a $20,000 bond for charges of Class B felony burglary, Class A misdemeanor false informing and two counts of Class D felony theft.
