ANDERSON, Ind. — A woman posted bond to get out of the Madison County Jail on Tuesday after allegedly causing four accidents Monday night at Hoosier Park under the influence of prescription drugs, and endangering a friend’s child, according to authorities.
Jennifer Dowling, 26, posted 10 percent of a $5,000 bond. She was arrested on suspicion of three felony charges: neglect of a dependent, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and possession of a controlled substance.
According to police reports, Dowling struck a moving vehicle in the casino’s parking lot. She then went around that vehicle, only to hit a parked vehicle, the Anderson Police Department reports said.
Next, according to the report, Dowling left the parking lot and struck another moving vehicle. When she backed up from this collision, she rammed into another vehicle, according to the reports. The reports did not say whether the fourth vehicle was attended.
A report said Dowling was unable to stand on her own, and “her pupils were dilated where very little of the iris was showing.” The officer transported Dowling to Saint John’s Medical Center for a blood test, and then transported her to the jail, according to the report.
Dowling and passenger Kylie D. Taylor, 22, were both charged with felony child neglect because Taylor’s 1-month-old son was in the backseat, according to the report.
Taylor was also charged with public intoxication by drugs. She remains at Madison County Jail on a $10,000 bond.
Anderson Police Department Detective Mitch Carroll, public information officer, said Taylor’s one-month-old child was remanded to the custody of a friend, who was called to the scene at the mother’s request.
Ann Houseworth, director of communications with the Indiana Department of Child Services, said when a parent is taken into custody, the agency places a child in a foster home only when another parent or family member cannot be reached or fails to pass a background check.
