ANDERSON, Ind. —
An Alexandria man was arrested Thursday night after his in-home girlfriend accused him of attacking her and keeping her held inside her house against her will for five days.
Ronald W. Buttermore, 42, faces charges of domestic battery, criminal confinement, intimidation and interference with reporting of a crime, according to a probable cause affidavit of the incident.
According to police reports, Buttermore and the victim got in a verbal fight on March 9 in her home in the 1200 block of East 10th Street, where Buttermore had been living for about three months. The victim told police Buttermore got very angry and started punching her in the face after she told him he needed to leave. She told police the blows caused severe bleeding from her forehead.
The victim also told police Buttermore wouldn’t let her leave for fear he would be arrested, even after she told him she needed to go to the hospital to address her injuries. She also alleged Buttermore hid her phone, the house phone and her car keys.
The victim told police she was finally able to get out of the house Thursday morning by convincing Buttermore to let her go to the bank. She called police as soon as she left the home.
Responding officers found her with dark bruises covering her face and under her eyes, according to the affidavit.
The victim issued an order of protection against Buttermore on Friday, according to public record documents.
Buttermore already has an open case regarding a previous accusation of domestic abuse. He was arrested in 2011 on charges of domestic battery in the presence of a child, strangulation and criminal confinement, and an order of protection was issued against him after the incident. Buttermore hasn’t been showing up to court dates since June, and it was believed he left the state. A warrant for his arrest has been out since August, according to public record documents.
