PENDLETON — An Indianapolis woman was arrested Sunday during her visit to the Pendleton Correctional Facility.
According to Superintendent Brett Mize, at approximately 1:45 p.m., correctional officer Ashley Stephens found 43-year-old Kenna Lyles of Indianapolis with 84.4 grams of marijuana, six packs of tobacco sticks, and four packs of tobacco rolling papers concealed in her clothing. Indiana State Police Trooper Tom Harbison arrested Lyles and transported her to the Madison County Jail.
Lyles is expected to be charged with trafficking in a controlled substance with an offender, possession with intent to deliver, and possession of more than 30 grams of marijuana, all felonies, and trafficking with an offender, a misdemeanor.
Lyles was attempting to visit 24-year-old Dwayne Rhoiney of Indianapolis. Rhoiney is serving a 55-year sentence for murder out of Marion County and a consecutive 10-year sentence for criminal confinement. He has been in prison since Feb. 3, 2006, and has a projected release date of Dec. 29, 2037. According to facility Investigator Mike Rains, Rhoiney will possibly be facing facility disciplinary charges and criminal charges in connection with the incident.
