ANDERSON — Anderson police are asking the public for help in identifying two suspects wanted in connection with a series of smash-and-grab purse snatchings.
On Tuesday, the APD released a surveillance photo of the suspects sought for questioning in three purse snatchings in as many months. All were in the 1500 or 1600 block of South Scatterfield Road on the west side of the road and all between 5 p.m. and 6:30 p.m.
The first incident took place on Nov. 13 at White River Fitness, 1545 S. Scatterfield Road. The second purse snatching took place Dec. 16 at Home Instead Senior Care. 1607 S. Scatterfield Road.
A third incident was reported on Jan. 9, again at White River Fitness. APD Detective Mitch Carroll, public information officer, said the latest incident revealed the guile of the thieves.
“They broke the window and accessed the trunk, where the woman had safely stored her purse, giving rise to the theory they may be casing their victims,” Carroll said.
Carroll said the suspects were seen once in a red Pontiac Grand Am or Grand Prix. The suspects include one male and one female.
Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to contact the Anderson Police Department at (765) 648-6730, (765) 648-6775.
