STONY CREEK TOWNSHIP — An Anderson man has been charged for being a habitual traffic offender and could face more charges after he crashed his moped west of Edgewood Thursday night.
Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said Brian Flatt, 48, of Anderson, was travelling eastbound on State Road 32 near County Road 500 West at 7:54 p.m. Thursday when he crashed his 1984 RMC-50 moped.
“Flatt stated a dog ran out in front of him and caused him to lose control and crash just east of the intersection,” Richardson said.
Flatt was transported by Lapel ambulance to Community Hospital in Anderson with a head injury.
Detective Stephon Blackwell has recommended a Class D felony charge of being a habitual traffic offender against Flatt. Richardson alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and toxicology tests could lead to more charges.
