SHERIDAN — A Wilkinson woman is dead following a two-vehicle crash in Hamilton County earlier today.
Hamilton County Sheriff’s Deputy Vicky L. Dunbar said Helen M. Barringer, 24, was driving a 2000 Saturn SL eastbound on Indiana 47, east of West Road, at about 6:45 a.m. when her vehicle crossed into the westbound lanes and crashed head-on into another vehicle, fatally injuring her.
John L. Felton, 62, Kokomo, was driving a 2006 Chrysler Town & Country westbound and could not avoid the collision, Dunbar said in a news release. He was taken to Methodist Hospital for treatment of injuries, including a possible broken hip.
The crash is being investigated by Hamilton County Sheriff’s Fatal Crash Team, but it wasn’t immediately known what caused Barringer to drive into the westbound lane, Dunbar said.
Wilkinson is south of Madison County in northern Hancock County.
