RICHLAND TOWNSHIP — A Killbuck Elementary School teacher was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis on Monday after being injured in a crash on a rural road near Anderson.
Lynda Clark, 65, of Lapel, was traveling eastbound in the 1800 block of East County Road 240 North, also called Bethany Road, at 7:58 a.m. Monday when her 2001 Pontiac Montana van left the north side of the road and struck two trees, Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said.
Clark had to be extricated from the vehicle by Richland Township fire personnel.
She was conscious at the scene and complained of left knee pain, but a medic called for a medical helicopter to take her to Indianapolis, Richardson said.
The sheriff said he didn’t know of any other injuries Clark might have suffered.
“Her statement to us was that she believes she may have fallen asleep,” he said.
The Madison County Sheriff’s Department, Richland Township Fire Department and Madison County Emergency Management Agency responded to the scene.
