Separate incidents result in police pursuit

'People, for some reason, just run'

ANDERSON — Two people sent Anderson police on chases Tuesday night in separate incidents that originated as smaller crimes, and one man was still missing Tuesday night.

“If that guy would stayed there, the least he could have done was give his side of the story,” said Sgt. Bill Casey of Anderson Police Department. “People for some reason, just run.”

Anderson police were still searching for a man who drove away from police as they approached a fight scene in the 800 block of West Sixth Street. The black 1984 Capris flew south on Madison Avenue with police behind it. At Madison Avenue and Eighth Street, the Capris T-boned a Honda, according to Casey. The female driver was taken to a local hospital with no apparent serious injuries. At that point, police called off the chase for safety reasons.

Casey said police have located the Capris and are looking for a person of interest who was not identified. He said the man faces resisting arrest charges and any charges attributed to the accident.

In a separate incident, Anderson police responded to a battery call in the 2200 block of Halford Street. When they arrived, Ronnie Brooks, 47, ran. After a brief foot chase, Brooks surrendered. He was arrested on suspicion of Class D felony escape, public intoxication and resisting law enforcement.
