ANDERSON, Ind. — An Anderson man was sentenced to 32 years in prison Monday for armed robberies of pharmacies last year in Yorktown and Shelbyville.
Curtiss M. Doan II, 37, of Anderson, pleaded guilty to two counts of brandishing a firearm during the commission of a federal crime of violence, according to the office of Timothy M. Morrison, U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana.
Doan was sentenced by U.S. District Chief Judge David F. Hamilton.
Doan pleaded guilty to brandishing a .357 caliber revolver on Aug. 28, 2008, while robbing the Yorktown Pharmacy in Yorktown. He brandished the same firearm during a robbery at the MedWorks Pharmacy in Shelbyville on Nov. 18, 2008.
During both robberies, Doan demanded and obtained controlled substances from the pharmacies, according to a statement from Morrison’s office.
Hamilton also imposed five years of supervision after Doan’s release from prison. Doan also was ordered to make restitution in the amount of $14,867.64.
The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, and the Alexandria, Shelbyville, and Yorktown police departments assisted in the investigation.
