ANDERSON — Anderson Police Officer Sean Williams pulled his weapon on two suspects during a traffic stop Friday night, according to the police report about the incident.
Police reports say Williams and his partner, Officer Matt Jarrett, pulled over a blue vehicle in the 1100 block of West 22nd Street Friday at about 11:01 p.m. for driving over the center line.
The driver, Jerome Thompson, 19, escaped on foot. While Jarrett gave chase, Williams pulled his gun to cover the other two suspects in the car.
Sgt. Shawn Richwine said it was typical procedure for an officer to pull his weapon when there’s a sense of danger.
After a brief chase, officers arrested Thompson, who was found with about 27 grams of marijuana. He was released on a $5,000 bond on charges of Class D felony dealing in marijuana, Class A misdemeanor operating a vehicle while intoxicated and Class A misdemeanor resisting law enforcement.
At least one of the passengers was also arrested.
