ANDERSON, Ind. — APD: Vending machine thief hungry

ANDERSON — An Anderson man who police arrested Thursday for breaking into a vending machine told officers “he knew he was going to be arrested for taking the food but he was hungry,” according to a police report.

The report said Kendrick Snow, 19, was “polite and honest” after the arrest for  breaking into a vending machine at the Hoosier Woods Apartments last week. Snow was accompanied by two other men, whom he did not identify, the report said. According to the report, Snow and the two other suspects left the machine void of about $50 to $70 worth of “pops, candy and potato chips,” causing $300 worth of damage.

Snow was charged with Class D felony theft.



Man allegedly attempts to pose as brother

ANDERSON — A man attempting to pose as his brother was arrested Saturday when officers found a gun and drugs in his vehicle, according to a police report.

The report said an officer stopped Landon P. Hill, 27, in the 600 block of West 22nd Street. When the officer asked for identification, the report said, Hill gave his brother’s name and stumbled over a birth date and Social Security number. As the officer — who happened to know the brother — arrested Hill, the suspect tried to swallow a bag of drugs, the report said.

Hill was charged with Class B felony possession of cocaine, and Class A misdemeanors possession of a handgun without a license, possession of marijuana, resisting law enforcement and false informing.

Hill’s brother, 30-year-old Dejuan Hill, is set to be sentenced on a Class D felony receiving stolen property on Monday.



APD: Sisters steal together, again

ANDERSON — A pair of sisters who were arrested on New Year’s Day for stealing cars together were once again arrested together Thursday, according to a police report.

The report said Kendra Wright, 19, and Kyara Wright, 20, stuffed an assortment of baby’s clothes and women’s tops into their purses at Meijer’s. Between the sisters, the items were valued at about $122, according to the report. They told officers, the report said, that the items were for Kendra Wright, who is seven months pregnant.

The Wright sisters were arrested New Year’s Day for allegedly stealing two cars from the Pizza Hut on 53rd Street. They reportedly gave the same reason for their respective thefts: the cold night had driven their attention to a running car in the lot.

The sisters now each face another Class D felony theft charge.
