ANDERSON, Ind. —
A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a longtime drug dealer late Thursday night.
Norman D. Anderson Jr., 48, of Anderson was found with plastic bags of cocaine and marijuana, a pill bottle filled with 80 pills of several painkiller varieties and more than $10,000 in cash in a rental car he was driving late Thursday in the 1000 block of Nichol Avenue, according to a probable cause affidavit from the arrest.
According to the report, officers pulled over a 2013 Dodge Charger with Ohio plates driven by Anderson after he failed to use a turn signal heading into a gas station parking lot. Police found a plastic bag filled with crack in the hoodie Anderson was wearing. The rental car was not registered in Anderson’s name.
During a search of the car, police found three more plastic bags containing crack, one with 10 grams, the second with four grams and the smallest with one gram. A front seat console contained more crack, three grams of marijuana and a black sock full of money. Police found a total of $10,244 in cash in the car.
Also in the console was a pill bottle with an assortment of Valium, Hydrocodone, Klonopin and Xanax painkiller pills.
During a police interview, Anderson admitted the crack was his and to possession of the marijuana and painkillers, according to the affidavit.
Anderson has a long history of arrests and convictions for selling drugs, dating back to 1991, when he pleaded guilty to a charge of possession of cocaine with intent to sell, according to public record documents.
