ANDERSON, Ind. — An Indianapolis man was arrested after police say the skid loader he was using in an attempt to steal copper wire got stuck in the mud at the IMI stone quarry on the southern edge of the city.
David R. Sisk, 29, of Indianapolis, was arrested at about 2:20 a.m. Monday and charged with Class D felony theft and Class A misdemeanor trespassing. He was released from the Madison County Jail after posting bond.
According to a probable cause affidavit, Anderson police and Madison County sheriff’s deputies responded to a report of $2,000 to $3,000 worth of copper wire and a loader being stolen from E&B; Paving, inside the IMI quarry in the 2400 block of West County Road 600 South.
The loader and wire were found in a field and Sisk was located nearby, according to the affidavit, which said Sisk cooperated after he was caught.
Sisk “admitted to entering the property of IMI and stealing the copper wire from skids and then loading it onto the scoop of the skid loader,” according to the affidavit. “He advised he got the loader stuck in the mud and then fled when he saw police.”
