Key dates: No school on Labor Day, Sept. 7; fall break, Oct. 21-23; Thanksgiving break, Nov. 26-27; First semester ends Dec. 18. No school for winter break, Dec. 19-Jan. 4; Martin Luther King Day, Jan. 18; Presidents Day, Feb. 15; spring break, March 20-28; Good Friday, April 2 (unless makeup day is needed); Last day of school is May 27 (unless makeup day is needed).
What you need to know: For transfer tuition students (outside the district), Daleville is full in grades K and 6. Students are being included on waiting lists for those grades. An estimated transfer tuition charge of $200 is payable before attendance each semester. No transfer tuition students will be accepted after Sept. 1.
What’s new this year: The school Web site is being upgraded with a goal of providing a larger amount of more timely information. ... Qualifying Daleville Jr./Sr. High School students will have access to one Ivy Tech dual-credit class per semester. ... Athletic programs will operate under the direction of an athletic coordinator and five assistant athletic coordinators, replacing the traditional athletic director.

Haffner becomes 44th winner of Red Haven Award
Pendleton Heights now has both the old and the new Red Haven Award trophy for its case at school.
When PH’s Ellie McCardwell won the award in 2010, the long-standing trophy was retired, and because the Arabians had the last winner, the school was able to permanently house that hardware.
On Tuesday, when the Anderson Noon Exchange Club presented the 2012 winner, it went to Pendleton Heights’ Abbie Haffner. So for the next 12 months, PH will be home to both the new traveling trophy, first presented a year ago to Lapel’s Leigh Steele, and the old one. -
